The underlying databases are located in two separate Microsoft Azure data centers in different countries. The complete data of payment transactions is mirrored between these data centers. Within the data centers, the data is stored on a minimum of 3 independent storage resources (Storage Stamps). A backup is performed every 240 minutes and retained for 8 hours. Before each modification of a record, a copy of the record is 'backed up' to another database, creating a complete history of the record. With this record history, data can be fully restored, even if the modification was caused by erroneous user behavior. The historical data is automatically deleted after 90 days.
