Onboarding PayPal

  • Updated

To use the Payment Service Provider PayPal in copal, an onboarding process is required. This process connects the PayPal account with collana pay so that payments can be processed via PayPal.

The created onboarding is later linked to a Provider Account.

Onboarding overview

Onboardings are managed in copal in the Tenants section under the Onboarding tab.

This section provides an overview of all configured onboardings.

Creating a new onboarding

To create a new onboarding, use the Add Onboarding button in the Onboarding section.

On the next page, select PayPal as the provider and confirm by clicking Save.

Connecting the PayPal account

After saving, the system redirects to a PayPal page where the PayPal account can be connected with collana pay.

Entering the email address

In the first step, the email address of the PayPal account is required.

Signing in to the PayPal account

In the next window, sign in using the merchant email address and the password of the PayPal Business account.

Confirming the connection

After the login process, a PayPal confirmation page appears.

At the bottom of the page, a button is available to return to copal.

Redirect back to copal

After returning to copal, an Onboarding ID is generated automatically.

Copying the Onboarding ID

The Onboarding ID can be copied using the info icon (i). This ID is later entered in the corresponding Provider Account.

Viewing additional information

Additional onboarding details can be viewed by clicking the eye icon.

The status should display Active, and the Message field should show Setup is complete.

Linking the onboarding to a Provider Account

The copied Onboarding ID must be added to the corresponding Provider Account.

Open the Provider Account and enter the ID in the Basic Options tab in the Onboarding-ID field.

Unlike some other PSPs, API credentials do not need to be entered manually for PayPal, as they are provided automatically through the onboarding process.

PayPal Business Accounts in the Developer Portal

The email address of the relevant Business account can be found in the PayPal Developer Portal.

The portal is available at developer.paypal.com, where all configured Business accounts are listed.

Sandbox accounts

For sandbox testing, the accounts can be found in the following section:

  • Sandbox
  • Testing Tools
  • Sandbox Accounts

The appropriate email address for the respective Business account and the password can be viewed there.
